We do this by reducing our customers time, workload and stress within their vehicle and fleet requirements. Central Self Drive has over 300 vehicles from small cars, 4x4s, buses, vans and 7.5ft trucks with tail lifts. Our core operation is supplying van hire to local businesses. We also offer fleet management, vehicle repairs and sales.

Our History
Under New Stewardship
Central is now under the stewardship of Stan’s grandson, David, who continues to run the business with the same principles set by his grandfather decades ago. Our fleet now includes vehicles from small cars to 7.5 ton trucks. We provide a professional and friendly service to cater for vehicle requirements of any size. Here’s to the next 30 years!
New Office
With ongoing success and a fleet passing 250 vehicles a new office and workshop were acquired.
Luxury Cars
Introduce luxury and business class cars with month by month rentals introduced. Ideal for flexibility and taking on new staff for business. Luxury car fleet at 30 vehicle’s to date. Merc A, C, E Class, BMWs, Maserati’s.
Updated Fleet
Throughout the next two decades, the company was driven forward by the Lewis family and as the motor trade moved forward, the fleet was updated accordingly.

Due to its ongoing success in 1968 the company moved to Winwick Street and began trading as Central Self Drive where we still operate today!

Started hiring cars, the first fleet consisted of a Vauxhall Victor, Ford Zodiac and Vauxhall Viva
Founded
Central Self Drive’s founder Stan Lewis left the RAF in the 1960′s, at a time of high unemployment nationwide. He used his savings to purchase Chester Road Service Station, which traded successfully as a petrol station and vehicle repair garage. Utilising his entrepreneurial skills, Stan saw a niche in the market whereby he could gain extra income from existing customers by providing hire vehicles whilst theirs were being repaired or serviced.
